Same thing happened to me. About two weeks later I got the conditional offer so be patient.

My question is, does EVERYONE that got an interview automatically become an alternate if they don't get a conditional offer. So for instance, if 25 people get interviewed and 5 get conditional offers, does that mean the remaining 20 are ALL alternates? Or do some of those 20 actually get a "thanks, but no thanks" letter?

sprink268 - No, most will get the "Thanks but no thanks" letter. maybe 2 or 3 will be alternates.

yeah they might be hiring 5 people and have a list of 10 that they like. So they will pick the top 5 they want for the jobs and put the other 5 on alternate list..

Sean what's your thoughts...I applied for a Conductor Trainee position in Vancouver, WA, and made it through the interview process, but then received and email on 12/13/2011 that I was placed on an alternate list that would be good for 6 months; it said in the event that they hire again I COULD be contacted again. In Jan. 2012 the same position (12 positions) came open again, so I applied again, but received and email that I didn't make it to the next round. What's your thoughts? Do you think I'm still on the alternate list and that's why I didn't get through this second time? Or do you think they will choose from the alternate list for this next round of hiring? Thanks, I'm just not sure where to go from here...
