Grateful--Yes purchase the book it will be the best thing you do! Once you do that then revise your resume to look like the sample in Sean's book. Then apply with the new resume. As far as the salary info goes I would put either "average pay for the job" or if it wants a number just put 40k. Good luck dont give up!

Well, Let's see
Interview. Check
Background. Check
Medical. Check
Vision. Check
Hearing. Check
Physical. Check
Strength Test. Check.Now the waiting game to see if I passed everything begins.. Took strength test this morning and let me tell you guys this thing is no joke. Take it seriously and really give it all you got. Im really worried if I passed this thing or not. Only time will tell I suppose. I gave it everything I had but I still wonder how I did.

I also just finished the strength test. I'm not sure how this is reflected in the job since they pretty much isolated the muscle groups in question. I'm confident that if you've got a gamey knee or shoulder it'll be revealed in the test. I'm not sure of the shoulder test, but midline strength for your knee is the ability to push/pull 50% of your body weight (all those years of running and cycling are finally paying off!). Anyway, all the hoops are jumped through for the class I can't attend, so I guess part II commences when they start hiring for May.

Strength test was a bitch. Physical tomorrow. Fingers crossed!!!

Just a thought, but if you get an interview but do NOT receive a conditional offer, does that automatically put you into 'alternate' status? Has anyone ever flat out gotten a "thanks, but no thanks" response after an interview?
Posted 3 weeks ago # -
ak-jlc---I've been advised the next class in Galesburg is scheduled for Feb 13th. Ive been selected as an alternate for this class. There is also a class in scheduled in March also.

Congratulations! You have met the requirements of the pre-employment medical and background review processes! We believe you will make an excellent addition to the BNSF team!
This letter is to notify you of your projected start date of February 20, 2012 to join BNSF as a Conductor Trainee in Chaffee, MO. Approximately two (2) weeks prior to your projected start date you will receive a final offer letter via email. Since employment with BNSF is subject to business needs, please do not tender a resignation with your current employer until you receive the final offer letter.
We appreciate your interest in employment with BNSF Railway!
Sincerely,
BNSF Central Staffing Team

I have a question for those of you who have already started training. In the info given at the hiring event it says "Paid twice a month" and "first paycheck delayed two weeks". Does this mean that you will receive your first pay on the first payday that falls after two weeks employment or does it mean that your first paycheck is delayed an additional two weeks after the next payday?
I looked around and didn't find any info posted on this. Hadn't given it much thought til now but since the wife and I will be paying rent in two different places for a while it's important for budgeting purposes.

I was told in Winslow it will be about a month before you see a check.

Physical today all looked good except for my pulse was a bit high 98. He checked it several times through the process, sometimes a bit higher than that once 95, but he wrote down 98. Not sure what thats going to mean as far as getting a job. Never seen anyone on here or other forums mention it. Guess I'll find out in about a week according to the paperwork that came to me to take to my physical.

BIGgerm - I started on Jan 9 so my first pay check will be Feb 1 but will only be for 1 week of pay (Jan 9 to Jan 15). Next check on Feb 15 will be 2 weeks of pay (Jan 16 to Jan 30).
Hope that helpsPosted 3 weeks ago # -
HI hoping someone can help me and give me some advise.
I received an email today to attend a hiring invitation at 2 locations, one is for Spokane, WA (signal apprentice) on Jan 31 and another one for Minot, ND Feb 02 ( bridge and builder helper driver). My question is "Can i attend the 2 hiring invitation ? or once I attend one of them I can no longer apply to a different position??
And I also wanted to know which one would be easier to pass.
Please let me know what you can suggest.. Thank you so much for the help.Posted 3 weeks ago # -
Thanks ALB and AZLongRoad.

Finally cleared medically after 2 weeks! Only 10 more days until the start date. And now... time to wait for a final offer.

I got a job offer Monday tommarow from bnsf and they have been contacting my previous employers so my question is how long does it usually take before i hear from them again?

Way to go Railroadess! Good luck in Gillette!

Thanks Tinner! You too! :)
@shmave20...
Not sure what stage you're in. If you've just received your conditional offer, BNSF will contact you again when they extend you a final job offer (after you've cleared all your medical & background checks). Any other contact you will receive via phone/e-mail will be from CHS, IPCS, and VI. Be sure to stay on top of your business.Good luck!

@trmn8r...
I'm thinking you should be fine. Perhaps they're only concerned with blood pressure & not so much heart rate.
@josem05...
I'm not particularly familiar with the testing for those crafts, but if you have the resources to attend both hiring sessions- do it! They are different jobs, so you would have to interview for both to be considered for each, rather than interviewing once for 2.
Best of luck everyone! Hoping it all works out for you.

Railroadess, I hope so! I emailed verificatios inc. today, and they replied that my background was done and had been fowarded on to BNSF, they didn't say anything about any isues, and I never got any calls from them to confirm or verify anything as some people get, so I guess, it must be good. So assuming my physical passes (the pulse rate part) I should be good to go and just awaiting a final offer. Hope to hear something from BNSF when they get my physical paperwork completed next week.

Hi, what is the pay scale for conductor trainee now. Is it the same as last year .Given Pay Per day times 7 or 5 I'm not sure a week. On a progressive scale. I hope that makes sense.
Posted 3 weeks ago # -
I don't think it has changed.

Started making appointments for all the further information that BNSF Medical wanted. was seen by my doc this morning. Medical told me HR has my start date 2/13 as conductor here in MN. Stress test is 2/5 and sleep doc is 2/6....medical said this process would not affect my start date as HR has final say on all hires. Still no contact with HR but I feel positive about everything. But I must admit that the wait is starting to get stressful lol

@AZLongRoad...
At my recent hiring session, we were told that the BNSF Conductor Trainee pay rate is $149.50 per day.
We can expect to work 5-7 days/week depending on how they feel!
Posted 3 weeks ago # -
@Dave, if you have sleep apnea it will affect you! BNSF will want 30 days of CPAP compliance if that is the route u take for slap apnea. Pm me if you have questions
Posted 3 weeks ago # -
Conductor training pay varies by Region, old BN, Santa Fe etc.. In Seattle we get $156 and a 6 day week. Overtime for OJT is anything more than 48 hrs
Posted 3 weeks ago # -
@BIGgerm
You may have had this answered already, but I just got tired of reading! LOL We are paid twice a month, the 15th, for the 16-th through the end of the month prior, and on the 30th, for the 1st to the 15th of the month. So your wait will be at minimum three weeks, depending on when you start. Hope that helps.Posted 3 weeks ago # -
@Johnnbea
That follows with the other responses. I suppose if I start on Feb 27th I'll get paid for 3 days on Mar 15 and then won't see a full check till the 30th. Thank you all for the info!
Posted 3 weeks ago # -
All, if you have sleep apnea and use CPAP, BNSF will hire you. All you have to do is show compliance( 30 days) don't sweet it use your machine and you'll be fine. Those who are over 35 BMI, u will hAve to do a sleep study, the only thing is getting 30 days of compliance and that will affect your start date.
