Hello this is my first post, has anyone herd if C.N has hired anyone for track maintainers in their western region. They had job fairs and interviews in Febuary, I had an interview and medical but haven't herd anything since.

When did you have the medicial?
Your in buddy unless something came up in the physical or backround check. The physicals cost CN more than you would think. There not gonna send you if they aren't interested in you. After we were hired the hr person let us in on that.
My physical was a few days after the interview. I got the call a few days after that.
Good luck Johnny.

I had the medical a little over a month ago, everything was all right I'm sure unless 44 years old is to old for them, and I have no proplems with my past.

Be patient I guess. Easier said than done I know. Sometimes the processs takes awhile other times its pretty quick. Based on what we were told once you get a physical your pretty much in. They're obviously interested.
Hang in there Johnny, I think you got the job.

I was wondering how to get contacted back from CN. I have been trying now for the past 10 Years to apply for a job as a conductor trainee. I have tried online, in person. Even with my father being a person who used to work for CN I don't even get a call email nothing from them. Is there room in the railroad industry for someone with no previous experience. One problem I noticed is that a lot of the Conductor Trainee spots are in the U.S. and right now it is virtually impossible for a Canadian to get a job in the U.S.

CN is hiring a bunch over the next few years.
10 years is a long time. Buy the book it'll help.

I have not taken that test in years so could not help you with that one. Maybe someone else can answer that question.
Posted 1 year ago # -

It's basic puzzle solving is what it is. If they need 'car Z' then you need to tell them
the quickest way to get it to the other track.Posted 1 year ago # -
It seems like CN isn't a very popular RR because I don't see a lot of people applying on this thread. But anyways I've been applying for CN jobs for the past 6 months and all of my applications status has remained at UNDER REVIEW. Now this past Monday I applied for a Brakeman job and my application status changed to CANDIDATE POOL within 24hrs., does that mean I am about to be invited to a interview or hiring session?
Posted 11 months ago # -
yes most likely. CN is a great railroad to work for.

how difficult is it to get a job in cn with a criminal conviction?
Posted 11 months ago # -
Depends on what it is and how long ago...
Posted 11 months ago # -
Has anyone on the forum gotten hired or had a interview by CN Railway? I stated 2wks ago that my status for a Brakeman job changed from Under Review to Candidate Pool. I'm just trying to figure out where I stand, that particular job posting has already closed and I have checked the website everyday and nothing has changed on my profile. If anyone has went through the hiring process with CN please give me some kind of insight!

Sean I'm serious now I'm not winding you like you probably think i am... i do have a criminal conviction 2003 it happened for drugs possession but it happened while i was working for Irish rail i started work 1997 it happened 2001 but convicted 2003 it was the only time i ever got in trouble was at the wrong place at the wrong time but since then i have been promoted within my job other than that bad day in my life i have a good record... now i know i shouldnt be blabbing that type of stuff on here especially with 99% of the people on this forum probably having impeccable records..... but now that you know in a nut shell my situation... how hard do you think now it would be for them to hire me? be brutally honest

Does anyone know what railyards CN has in Pennsylvania? They are hiring in Pennsy but it only says locations across the state or something. No specific yards or towns. Thanks
Posted 11 months ago # -
@zzsheepy Did this arrest happen in another country? If so I would not even worry about it or list it...
@atwitsend Check their website..

Hoping to get some insight from the forum prognosticators here...2 months ago I applied for 10-003-Conductor and 90-006 - Signal & Communication Apprentices located in toronto MAC yard I believe, which stated UNDER REVIEW for about 45 days.Being impatient I applied for another conductors position in Sarnia. Immidiately after that later that day I they had updated my status to NOT SELECTED on the Signals $ Com and the Sarnia Conductors job BUT kept my status as UNDER REVIEW for the Conductors position in Toronto. Are they saying just be patient because we have our eye on you for the Toronto position? I should add the ones that they said NOT SELECTED are still in open status. Would like to also mention that my old man is recently retired and had the Yardmaster put in a word for me hope that helps.love the forums! Sorry for the War and Peace question lol.
Posted 11 months ago # -
Thanks Sean I did but i can't find any info on yards in Pennsy. The jobs in Pennsy all say "various locations", no specifics. I'll keep looking for the info though. I heard CN is a very good RR to work for though.
