At the beginning of the year (2012), I applied for a Manager Field Investigator posistion with CSX. My application progressed and now I am scheduled for an interview in front of a panel in which they are flying me to the location for. What can I expect? What can I do to prepare myself(ie specific interview questions)? Any information would be greatly apprecaited!

I hate to say it but you will be looking for flaws in any situation you come around. If you want to win the job, I would say you need to be a very precise invidiual who likes to investigate and solve problems.

I have 7 yrs of prior law enforcement experience......I never had to do a phone interview and didn't know if that was a good sign to go straight to the in person interview? Any knowledge of what questions they may ask?

I had a phone interview with CSX last week and the questions were just randomly shot out of the computer. The HR lady would read them and type my response. The questions she asked me were:
Explain a time in your life you had to over come something?
How would you manage a team of workers that didn't all get a long?
Lets say the shift a head of you left the work space messy and it slowed your guys down. How would you handle this?
If there was someone lagging behind how would you get them up to speed?
Name a time when something unexpected happened on the job site and how did you over come it.
The job I'm interviewing is different than yours but at least you see what direction the questions are geared towards. I was actually surprised wasn't asked more questions in regards to safety. I'd throw it in anytime I could though.

ELIM2010 is spot on, the last question that was asked... "Where do you see yourself with our company in the future?" in my interview and I am a freight conductor. Management questions, I am sure are much harder to respond to. I was a Manager for 12 years and was prepared for those like questions. Big key.... Be prepared, get Sean's book read it then read like there is no tomorrow, then... Read like there is no tomorrow on the companies website. It will do you good.

Great call! Put yourself in a position, with enough ammo, that you are able to appear informed and very much engaged in the entire process. It will pay off big time in the end!
