I am a senior in high school, and in my personal finance class we have been assigned to interview someone in the career field we are possibly thinking about going into. Trains, planes, and cars have always fascinated me, so I was naturally drawn to the freight train industry. If you have the time, I would greatly appreciate it if you answered some of my questions for class. We had to come up with 15 of them, so here it goes.
1. What education and work background did you have before working in the train industry?
2. What was your entry level job?
3. How many years have you worked in the industry?
4. During that time what positions have you worked at?
5. How stressful or tiring is the work?
6. Overall do you enjoy what you do?
7. What education would you recommend for someone looking at that industry?
8. What jobs in the industry will be growing?
9. If you could go back to when you graduated from high school, what would you have done differently?
10. What are the pros and cons working in the train industry?
11. In the weakening economy we are faced with, do you think the transportation of freight is going to continue to grow?
12. Did you get a college degree?
13. Are the hours difficult to schedule with your personal life?
14. Does the industry have room to climb from a basic entry level job to higher positions?
15. What areas in the county have the greatest job openings?
If one of you reading this could answer some of these questions, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
