Wow, Did a little home work on KCS today and learned they run through TX and applied
with them. Don't know how the out come will be, but hey you don't know unless you try
they are hiring in three different locations in TX. Don't think I would have even thought about that Rail company without the new forum setup with discussions for each RR. Thanks SeanPosted 1 year ago # -
No problem that is what we are here for. Good luck!

@azguy2 - don't feel to bad. I got rejection letter from KCS in less then a week from filling application. I think I have a better chance at Class 1. As long as you keep trying I will kep trying. Soon. Or later we will both get a career.

KCS is a class 1 railroad.... They are the smallest class 1 rr.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Sry I didn't know that. I thought they were like class 2 or 3. Anyways they basically took the application and through it wright into the trash can. Lol - not wasting my time with them again.

A good buddy of mine Caleb works for them. He got hired on with them before we even graduated nars...
Posted 1 year ago # -
I have a feeling that I will have to take classes at NARS to get hired. Just don't have tat kind of cash flowing around right at this time.
Posted 1 year ago # -
I would like to try applying for KCS, do I need to go to trade school? ( Modoc or NARS) thanks!
Posted 1 year ago # -
to dlm73: Hello friend, could you pls.share in our forum how you got hired by KCS? (interview experience, work experience..etc) thanks!
Posted 1 year ago # -
You can get hired directly with KCS. They also have an office near the nars academy as well.

I never had any type of railroad experience, I just applied and wished for the best. As for my interview they mainly wanted to
know my thoughts on Saftey (Don't let the move be more important than you) maybe I just got lucky real lucky!!! But I'm running with it and not turning back. I'm enjoying it so far and making the best of it so don't give up keep your heads up sooner or later you will get that call!!!Posted 12 months ago # -
congratulations man!

Congratulations dlm73! Did they give you any written test (Reading and Math test) ?
Posted 12 months ago # -
Hello forum buddies! I worked as a printing press operator for 13 years and now I'm working as a truck driver (gonna be 2 years this October)... my highest educational attainment is GED and NEVER been to any trade school..I had one non-preventable accident in my driving record because I drove on a sleeky road during winter but I did not receive a citation for that..
Do you guys think I have a good chance of getting a job at KCS or other RR companies?
( I am not really good at 'Math test' and 'Interviews' but I do better in manual jobs, shift work, showing stability at work ,handling heavy equipments etc..)
Thank you forum buddies especially to Sean Martin and Freewood for helping everyone in this forum.. God bless!Posted 12 months ago # -
Superman you just gotta apply and try to get the interview and sell yourself! I also recommend the RR jobs guide downloadable e-book which you can get by clicking the banner at top of forum. Also study this forum as much as possible.

Things that would match these jobs like using heavy equipment, safety, shift work, and alsome being responsible worker. Just wondering any advise how to get their attention? Also I applied for section laborer and conductor trainee.
