Hello, second time posting here, last time I was complaining that I was turned down for a position to one of three other people who were under dressed. Well, a new wrench was just thrown into the works that I need some insight on. Sorry that it may be a little long and too detailed, in advance.
As I said, two months ago I was turned down but during the interview I was asked questions leaning towards the communication technician job instead of the job I was there to interview for which was the apprentice signal trainee position. At the time of the interview I worked in a contract position as a Video Network Engineer, but I knew it was only temporary and it ended three weeks ago but my previous employer took me back with open arms as a video headend/hub technician last Monday. Needless to say I have only been back for one week.
Today on my way home from working out of town I got a call from the HR guy Chuck who interviewed my previously. He asked if I would be interested in going through a special interview for a communication technician position in Ft Wayne Indiana. I would be going to the Job location where I would be working to interview with a local HR and the Supervisor for the position, there would be no competition as it would be just me.
I had to explain to him that I just started a new job and the reasons why also explained to him that I get a % of disability from the VA for back, ankle, shoulder and PTSD issues and that I was afraid I may be wasting my time. He said that part is not up to him but as he sees it, I currently work a job as physical is not more physical than the position at NS so I should be fine. All the interviews, physical and background check could be done without my current employers knowledge and if I didn't get it, there is no harm, no foul.
Does this sound promising. Should I go for it? Has anyone heard of the railroad looking for a candidate to fill a position not applied for?
Thank in advance for the insight.
