Hi all, I just found this site. I have an interview with BNSF tomorrow. I was wondering if those of you that have tested for BNSF remember how much electric questions there is, if any? I have been looking over the position requirements on their web site and it doesn't list electronic knowledge as a requirement. I have taking electronics close to 20 yrs. ago, but it has been so long that I had to use that knowledge. I now work for a pop company, but before I was in computers for close to 10 yrs.
Any help would be great,
Steve

Welcome. There are no electrical questions on the test. You will take a few tests to evaluate your personality and mechanical aptitude.
I would highly recommend the e-book from this site. It will really help you to pass the personality test and the oral interview. Good luck!Posted 3 months ago # -
You can get it by clicking large banner above!

Do any of you guys have any Test Question or a guide in which I can use to study for the Signal and Communication position?

NeedInfo - Welcome! I would suggest you get the Railroad Jobs Guide by clicking the banner at the top of this page. It will help allot with the personality test and the oral interview. It gives a breakdown of what the interviewers are looking for and what to say and what not to say. It is a pretty quick read so I would suggest reading it 3 or 4 times before you interview.
As for the other tests, I would not worry about them at all. There are no electrical questions just basic mechanical aptitude stuff. If you are somewhat mechanically inclined you will have no problems.

Hey everyone, just found this site. I interviewed in Tulsa a month ago, and was given a contingent offer, and passed all of the medical stuff. One of the online documents I had to fill out listed the anticipated start date as April 2, 2012. That is 2 weeks away and I have not been given a final offer yet. Does this mean that I will not be getting that final offer? I want this job bad, and its killing me, please help! Thanks

Don't worry about it. I got my final offer a few days before my hire date. Just don't delay in providing them anything they ask for.

Ok thanks, I havent delayed on anything, answering everything the same day if at all possible. Does the final offer come via email or is it an actual letter?
Posted 2 months ago # -
If you are talking about BNSF it will be an e-mail.

Just got word from BNSF that the start date that was originally scheduled for April 2 has been changed to April 16, so hopefully that is good news! (fingers crossed)

Welshba; I'm kinda in the same boat as you. I interviewed in february and was chosen as an alternate.
Then I got an email a week later for a conditional offer, well I did all my test and got the (Meet medical standards email)
And have just been waiting to hear back. The anticipated start date was April 2nd in flagstaff az.
Turns out my HR contact is on vacation so I spent about 30 mins on the phone yesterday and found out the
Start date got pushed back. But I did find out that I did pass both the medical and background.
So yeah just waiting for that final offer now.Posted 1 month ago # -
Gogojay; According to my HR contact the date got pushed back to April 16. The email that I got from her today read as follows:
At this point you have cleared both background and medical and we have reached out to the local hiring manager to gather start date information, which is projected to be April 16th. Once we have received we will send you a final offer letter through e-mail approximately two weeks before your projected start date.
So hopefully that means I just need to continue to wait for another week or so, and hope that it doesnt get pushed back again for any reason. Good luck to you and keep us updated, I will do the same.

welshba - Until the RR is ready, get used to it they operate on their own time. Think you're going out in 2 hours and it ends up being 12 hrs, think you're going out in 12 hrs and it ends up being 2 hrs. If this doesn't sit well with you then the RR might not be a good fit. Sorry, it's the cold hard truth !!!!

weshba - I know the feeling, I was laid off for 7 weeks before being hired. Hang in there mate.

I would get a temp job while your waiting!

Sean - its not for lack of trying, trust me. You think a college degree will help you get a job, but now days, seems it holds you back more than anything for some reason, never thought I would hear the words, "you're too qualified" but I have heard it more than I would like to count.
