Ramzies, I was told by my brother in law about the train crew positions opening up, but they don't show up on UP's website. How were you able to apply?

Sean - Got your e-book and a conditional offer with UP out of Coffeyville, Kansas. My interview was Thursday (3-7-11), got the call the next day. By the time I got home from work Friday it was 930PM. I was able to call and get my medical assessment scheduled, but won't be able to call for the PAT until Monday morning.

Congrats Chad. Make sure you take a basic multivitamin and some time released vitamin c along with a healthy basic breakfast (or ??) within about 2-4 hours of your appearance to the exam. If your urine is too clear they will not even screen it and this will cost you about 4-5 days on your processing time; You will have to reschedule the drug/urine test. I know this from experience. PM me for some PAT insight as well. Be Safe

release to start may 9th!!! so glad i went with UP. Stick with it. It can happen, went thru both BNSF and UP's conditional offers. if you got any questions check the forum and check out Sean's book. went from no replies to dozens from all class 1 RR's and then having to decide which one to accept. Sean's book is the first steps but the rest is up to you..RESEARCH!!! and SAFETY is key.

UP must need alot of people for Denver, there is a hiring session on 4/12 and 4/13 plus they had one last month too. AA757 it can take awhile to here back sometimes months or sometimes a couple of weeks. UP didnt get back to me for 4 months.

@etommytay- Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been on here in a couple of days. But you just have to go to the UP website & click on careers. The openings only stay open a couple days so you should check the website EVERYDAY like I was doing. If your focus is the Arkansas area you are in luck because I was just told by the hiring manager that they have a lot of work down here so they are planning on having hiring sessions every month. GOOD LUCK!!!

Got a call today about a conditional offer. I initially was rejected but they needed more hires so they picked my up and I will take it any way I can get it.

Ffpopio - as you know I had a interview with them on March 31st for Seattle but did not get job. It took 4 months before I received a phone call from them. I would say don't pressure the railroad because there is a lot of application out there and everyone is trying to get a job. Anyways calling corporate doesn't really get you anywhere but a general response. The HR guy from the area is the one who picks the application he wants to interview.

You could still call the HR and try to get a local hr number to call.

    Good luck usmcjw!

I just accepted my invitation to the UP hiring session. Things seem to be moving along quicker than I expected. Still taking it day by day but we are on to the next step.

I have a question, I had my 1st interview last wk and they said I could recieve a call within 6 months but I personally don't think I will because the interview didn't go well. Now I just got invited to another hiring session, can I go or do I have to wait 6 months to have another interview?

@Ramzies - Have you received the dreaded "Thank You" and is it for the same area as this new hiring session or is it diffrent?

From what I understand if it is a diffrent area then you can go but if it is the same area as the first interview then you have to wait 6 mths.

All in All I would go and let them make that decision. Unless they ask you about the first one then I wouldn't even tell them about the first interview.

    Good Luck

I haven't seen a whole lot on the topic of furloughs. Is this still an on going trend with training and then getting laid off. Where would be the best place to put in that would be least effected by that.
